Body image issues don't only pertain to females. I mean, for example, Valerie Harper is an attractive woman, but they certainly dressed her, for the first few seasons, on Mary Tyler Moore in a way to make her seem heavier and look more unattractive. This episode belonged to Burell comedic and Ariel Winter dramatic. I'll miss you guys this summer!! In this case however, I think Ariel is fine. Mitch and Cam realize that they are not as cool as they thought. It's basically a much smarter, much richer Kelly Kapoor, dating white guys and having wacky co-workers.
The writers said they would continue to mine their own lives for material. And the hug at the end was understated -- even with robot Phil's mute exclamations in the background. It's the perfect way to end the season, and it also ought to at least give us some fun stories to begin Modern Family Season 7. The show has won many awards, including the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in each of the past five years and the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series four times so far as well, twice for Eric Stonestreet and twice for Ty Burrell, as well as the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series twice for Julie Bowen. First, Andy asks Phil's advice about whether or not he should propose to Beth, also saying that he might have feelings for another girl.
Elsewhere, a tone deaf Lily prepares to perform in her school talent show and Cameron is more worried about it than she is, and Haley's feelings for Andy become even more complicated when he gets rushed to the hospital with appendicitis. Gloria picks out Princess Fiona and Shrek costumes for her and Jay, but Jay decides he wants to be Prince Charming complete with a full head of gorgeous hair, and with the hair comes a new sense of confidence. The sound goes out, and Haley and Andy don't hear a word. Jay learns that Manny's new girlfriend is also his former business partner's granddaughter. And why is it that young male actors never seem to play characters that would make society concerned for their mental well-being? Later, Haley goes to her father for advice about Beth, who we now realize is pretty much a crazy psychopath. I'm sure Nolan knows that in real life he is a genius and only Luke is fairly stupid.
So maybe next year Andy and Haley will get together but Beth will stalk Haley. Archived from on October 9, 2014. During the celebration, Jay frets about Gloria's cousin who has overstayed his welcome, Claire stresses out about giving Alex the perfect gift, Mitch hides news of being laid off from Cam and Andy's girlfriend, Beth, is in town stirring up a whole lot tension with Haley which finally leads to a realization that may have come too late. Also, Jay and Phil struggle with Haley's gift, a new car. Because Ariel is a teenager and there is no time in a young woman's life where she is more self conscious about her developing looks, despite the money. The conversation between Alex and Claire was sweet and incredibly poignant -- a part of me thought no 17-18 year-old girl would be that self-aware about her mother, but Alex has always been a little ahead of the curve. And shouldn't we be more concerned than we are about a young actress who plays a character that is always supposed to be the best looking, and worry that she may go to unhealthy lengths to maintain her beauty it seems there have been cases of actresses developing eating disorders brought on by them wanting to stay as gorgeous as their character is supposed to be? Jay goes from feeling disappointed to scared when Gloria's visiting sister Sonia becomes a larger deterrence for a romantic evening with Gloria than he thought.
Meanwhile, Claire worries about Alex's gift; Jay complains that Gloria's cousin has overstayed his welcome; Mitchell keeps the news of his layoff a secret from Cameron; and a visit from Andy's girlfriend turns Haley's world upside down. Can't wait for next season! You got me to graduation, to Cal tech. My friend and everyone else said it was my imagination. I think it can make you look less attractive. Gloria asks Jay to take over his appearance.
After FaceTiming with Phil and the rest of the family to help track her down, Claire quickly turns to online snooping which inevitably becomes disturbing real quick and everyone gets sucked into the online drama. They have an honest conversation, and Phil helps Haley realize that she is in love with Andy. Dressing down doesn't make you ugly. Archived from on October 4, 2014. Jay and Gloria had plans to spend the holiday away, but when the trip gets canceled at the last minute they decide not to tell anyone. However, when Gloria accompanies Cameron to his faculty talent show, she projects the soapy drama she craves onto Cam's rivalry with Senor Kaplan, and Jay tags along with Mitchell to pick up Lily from camp so he can sneak a smoke.
All in all, a solid year -- felt like the back half was stronger than the front half. Claire has no confidence in them and prepares a secret turkey of her own as backup. Alex and Claire have their own important moment. Mitch is tired of always being the bad cop and forces Cameron to deal with Lily's refusal to wear a nice dress to dinner. I don't know why Ariel would feel bad about Alex's supposed ugliness compared to Haley when she gets more attention for her looks in real life than Sarah Hyland does.
Advice from Levitan to his cast and crew? For the amount of money this cast is paid, I'd be willing to have them scream obscenities and fling insults about my looks at me and air it nationwide. I think the writers seem to have a better handle now for all the young characters--they were a bit lost earlier in the season. Meanwhile, Mitch and Cam meet a popular news reporter at a school function and one of them peaks her journalistic interest. Claire is torn when she gets a job offer from a big hotel chain but feeling torn quickly gets replaced with feelings of confusion when she can't tell whether or not Jay really cares if she stays or goes. Both sets of parents get equally caught up in the rivalry and convince Principal Brown to let them break the tie via a gym grade they both have not completed - a one mile run. We can only hope that something happens before Andy proposes, or at least before he marries crazy Beth, to finally get Haley and Andy together for Modern Family Season 7! Elsewhere, Cameron gets overwhelmed by the day's activities and Mitchell has closing arguments for a huge case.
Talking about Dylan, I miss him, but I also like Andy, agh, now I want Hailey to end with both!!!! Finally, Alex sits her mother down and tells her she wants to give her a gift. It's probably for the best to leave that scene vague if they were indeed going for that. It was a nice reversal from when I had to pull the plug on my dad in the hospital. Phil, Haley and Luke try to convince Alex to try. I think Luke was a weak spot this season with all his teen horniness.
